BLAST Titans partners with Razer for first Apex Legends event

BLAST has partnered with leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, Razer to sponsor the esports tournament organiser’s first Apex Legends event (July 23-25 & July 31-August 1) - where Europe’s best teams will compete for a €40,000 prize pool.

The partnership will integrate Razer into the BLAST Titans tournament through a number of activations, including: product giveaways, player-led content opportunities, in-game branding and activation of the match and tournament MVP broadcast segment. 

Razer is one of the most recognised brands in global gaming and is a world leading lifestyle brand for gamers and esports communities all around the world. Razer’s award-winning hardware spans from high-performance peripherals to a range of other gaming accessories.

Apex Legends has enjoyed a rapid rise since its launch in 2019. In April this year, EA announced the game had surpassed 100 million players, a 30% year-on-year growth and its esports event viewership had grown in line with the popularity of the game. 

The inaugural BLAST Titans tournament will see 40 teams, including leading teams such as Gambit, Alliance and NAVI, competing online over two action packed weekends. 

The first weekend (July 23-25) will be a double elimination battle royale event involving 40 teams, which will be made up of the top 20 European teams on recent form, 10 invited wildcard teams and 10 teams via open qualifiers. The second weekend (July 31-August 1) will feature the top 20 teams from weekend one, facing each other in the Arenas mode that was first introduced in the game only last month. 

BLAST team up with Twitch and Amazon ahead of inaugural Apex Legends event BLAST Titans

Collaboration will focus on viewer experience and digital fan engagement

BLAST will team up with Twitch and Amazon ahead of this week’s inaugural Apex Legends event BLAST Titans - where Europe’s best teams will compete against each other for a €40,000 prize pool.  

Twitch and BLAST will work together to focus on enhancing viewer and fan experience of the tournament through unique features like Twitch chat and Drops - that will reward fans tuning in and watching the second weekend’s Arenas Mode action unfold online. 

As part of the deal, BLAST Titans will broadcast exclusively on Twitch, where the English language broadcast will be shown live from Twitch.tv/BLASTTV.  

Amazon will own the ‘match predictions’ segment of the broadcast and social media activations, providing visibility to its Prime Gaming and online shopping offering. BLAST and Amazon will also work with influencers to engage the Apex Legends community throughout the tournament, offering a more integrated viewing experience to fans.

This month’s BLAST Titans (July 23-25 & July 31-August 1) event will be the first tier one Apex Legends event to showcase the brand new Arenas mode with the best teams around Europe competing for a €40,000 prize pool. 

The inaugural BLAST Titans tournament will see 40 teams, including the likes of Gambit, Alliance and NAVI, competing online over two action packed weekends - the esports tournament organiser’s first event in the battle royale game.  

The popular Arenas mode was first introduced on Apex Legends in June and features teams of three going head-to-head in a round-based tactical shooter format. The top 20 teams from the first weekend (July 23-25) of BLAST Titans action, will qualify for the second weekend (July 31-August 1). The second weekend’s action will offer the first insight into the pro meta in Apex Legends’ newest game mode.

Weekend one will see World’s Edge as the priority map and Olympus as the secondary map - offering an insight into the competitive meta on Apex’s newest map for viewers, and challenging teams to compete out of their comfort zone. The map pool for weekend two will consist of: Phase Runner, Party Crasher, Thermal Station, Artillery and Gardens. 

Day 1 

Teams are divided into two groups, with the top 10 teams from each group progressing to the upper bracket, and the bottom 10 teams from each group heading to the lower bracket and possible elimination.

Day 2

Day two will consist of three stages: upper bracket 1, lower bracket 1 and lower bracket 2. In each of the lower bracket stages, 10 teams will be eliminated.

Day 3

The final day of weekend one will see the remaining 20 teams compete in Apex Legends’ Match Point Format for the grand prize, and will rank teams ahead of the Weekend Two Arenas event.

Day 4 & 5

The 20 teams competing in weekend two’s single elimination arenas format will be seeded according to their performance from weekend one, competing in BO3 on Saturday to make the final eight. This will be followed by BO5 stages on Sunday, culminating in a Grand Final to crown the eventual winners.
